I'm sometimes out of town for extended periods of time and leave before decisions are made on certain playoff games as to when and what channel the game will be on.  So I can't always schedule what I want to record before I leave.  And my wife isn't always a good sport about recording stuff I don't schedule.  So this would solve my problem.  It'd also enable me presumably to record a PPV that I watch while out of town since the Slingbox IR remote blaster apparently lets you do more than simply change the channel - you can also "select" something using the virtual remote. Since it has IR blasting and codes for most STB out there I don't see why this wouldn't work.  Just use slingbox to change the channel over the internet and if you wanted to kick off a recording with logmein or something like that.
